Expecting the worst ... especially after scandal with Trading Standards from the Borough that banged the place to rights for mis-advertising the menu as "organic". They have now substituted "Julie's" for the offending organic ie. lamb, chicken ... however surprisingly "Julie" done good and it was delicious, followed by a proper crumble with decent custard - totally excellent in a very non-Heston Blumenthal way ... although enthusiastic exploration of the cocktail menu resulted in a eye-watering bill.
I had the most delicious steak at Julies, at a ridiculously reasonable price. For Notting Hill I didn't think it was too expensive, and it was the best service I've had in London for a very long time. But that is just my opinion.

Had a nice Saturday evening there, spending most of the time at the bar… the cocktails are great but I wonder: where did all my money go?
Really poor service. The waiter was very rude and judgmental. The food was good but a very off-putting environment for an evening meal.
Set in a rather messy and ad-hoc fashion, Julie's Bar is fun but far from sleek. Perhaps fine for a lazy afternoon drink, this tucked-away venue is slightly dull and not overly pleasant to spend an entire evening in. An uninspiring menu adds little to the experience and the staff will probably find you too much hassle. Disappointing.
