Overrated, slightly expensive place with a good interior that could be put to faaar better use.

The Death/Grind/Speed/Whatever Metal they play in here is always pretty horrendous and the general clientele tend to be uptight goths with about as much personality as a coathanger. The staff are very friendly though and the choice of shots is unbelievable

Downstairs always seems to be ridiculously loud even when theres only a few mopesters hanging about. This only seems to add to the intensity of the place, with something definitely claustrophobic about it.

With all that said, I've ended up in here plenty of times. A definite experience but not quite deserving of all the noise made about it...there's a LOT of noise...

"There is a theme here – can you spot it? You might be able to smell it. Okay…a lot of drinks come with the additional shot of garlic. Don’t let this put you off though – this is an absolute Soho gothic legend and classic.

Quite small and select – you have to arrive early to be in chance of a seat, and there is not much room to stand and linger. Two floors of small rooms – the basement bar is a small fug of smoke and liquor, the upstairs a squash of lace and leather –metallers, goth heads and indie bods mingle happily. Outside are long bench seats and a food / bar that resembles a small tuck shop. It’s about the size of a postage stamp though – but does boast of a few plants – which is enough to make it a beer garden in my book."

"Tucked away in the heart of Soho, this Swedish rock bar is dingy, cluttered and oh so very cool. With a restaurant on the ground floor, leading out to a tiny beer garden complete with canopy heaters, and the bar squished into the basement area, Garlic & Shots is often crammed full at weekends with those who are just too cool to care.

There are 101 different shots are available, combining lots of garlic and lots of vodka, so there's plenty to get your tonsils around whilst you're rocking out to the superb range of alternative music."
