I've just searched "pentapeptide" on biomedical databases, and I can't find much in the way of scientific literature to back this claim up.
Cell membranes in skin are very selective in what they let in and out. Why would they absorb an alien protien from outside the skin. If you wanted to get bigger muscles you would'nt put steak on your arm. This is the same with pentapeptides. There is no proof that pentapeptides alone reduce wrinkles in skin.
I recently spoke to a med student friend of mine about this. (I am merely repeating what I was told). He inferred that " Pentapeptides are nothing more than blended meat, you may as well put pate on your face"
I agree. There is no proof whatsoever that pentapeptides have any beneficial effect.
The claims for pentapeptides are highly misleading. Some may be helpful, others are toxic, and there are no intrinsic reasons why pentapeptides (strings of five amino acids) should be any more beneficial than tri-, tetra- or hexa-peptides etc.
