Akari is a recreation of an izakaya, a Japanese 'pub' with food, serving delicious Japanese food with a fair selection of dishes for the adventurous as well as plenty for the more conservative.

If you are in islington this restaurant is a gem, away from the main drag of cafes and restaurants. We ate here in Sept. and found it a delight. It is a not pretentious or overwhelming. The dining room was lively and the staff and service was excellent. I would recommend ringing ahead, we had to wait 30 mins. without, but it was worth it!! We ordered a few dishes to share which came when ready..and had sushi which was perfect. Our night was relaxed and enjoyable and would recommend this restaurant for its quality food and service. I will return again.

Been a few times good food a little expensives. Service generally quick. Portions are quite small but sushi always is fantastic.
