With its eclectic rock deco, unique style and comfy interiors, Zigfrid stands out in the London bar scene as an example of how things really ought to be done. Located on trendy Hoxton Square, this place gets fairly busy with the after work crowd, and is filled with a professional, style conscious crowd come the evening.
Cool-as-ice it may well be, but there are touches that bring a little home comfort to your night out. Leather couches, tall arm chairs, candles and fabric details are great for lounging around, and the comfortable lighting is easy on the eye. It?s also a place that knows how to party - from Wednesday through to Sunday nights you can expect to catch some of the capitals very best DJ?s, spinning mixes ranging from classic rock to cutting edge electrohouse.
Across the floor can be seen the open kitchen, giving the place an authentic bistro feel in the daytime. Zigfrid offers a ?roadside diner? menu, and is a great place to have lunch with friends - try the blue cheese salad. Alfresco dining is also available (weather permitting, of course). As the evening draws in, emphasis shifts to the dazzling drinks menu featuring a range of authentic Czech beers and it?s very own ?Rocktail? menu. Be advised that the bar tends to get rather hectic during busier periods so practice waving tenners in the air before you head out.
A friendly place for a quiet drink, or a jumping venue to make a night out of - with Underbelly downstairs keeping the party wild, Zigfrid is an excellent choice for those after something a bit different. As good on a weeknight as it is on a weekend, this Hoxton Square address is well worth checking out.
Zigfrid can get very busy and is best avoided during these times, those being anything after 7pm, especially at the weekend.
Try and visit during the day when you can find your own little spot and settle in for the long haul. The food is ok and a little bit more than the usual bar fare, drinks are ok, and the music is listenable.

this was my favourite venue when i first moved to shoreditch a few years back now
i played there on a monthly basis for a few years too
not been for a while but it used to get rammed on a weekend night and when it was busy it was even harder to get a drink from the bar!
fun place though
Zigfrids is one of my favourite bars in hoxton. The music in there is the best of any of the local bars, the decor is trendy & comfortable, the outdoor seating area out the front is perfect for sitting down, if you want to smoke & people watch. The kind of bar you bring your visitors to Hoxton to.Only failings are slow bar service & the kitchen opening times.
Agree most of the previous commnets... Zigfrid can be one of the best bars in London. If you catch it when not too busy and you like the music/DJ. Best avoided when crowded as it becomes like anywhere else and is invaded by rude boyZ weekend evenings who wouldn't be out of place at the queer night in Vauxhall. The main negative points would be the retarded doormen, with the kind of inverted Shoreditch snobbery towards dress code (typical of many so called liberal Hoxtonites) that wouldn't be out of place at the door of On Anon, Tiger Tiger or some other West End dump that you'd never want to set foot in...and the weekend evening queues.
For a thursday night i thought it would be better. The majority of the clientele were men, really just not my sort of place. 9.55 for 2 shorts with coke, now that's just rude for what is a pretty average bar.
