The Living Room
The Living Room has to be one of the most diverse venues in London and very suited to an all-round night out. The entrance is a little off the garden path of the rest of Angel and its gets rather populated into the evening with secluded bars, loud urban and RnB tunes and a long, impressively stocked bar.
The service is moderately slow however and it is a little on the expensive side. However, follow the bar around to the left and the venue opens up to a two floored restaurant which is broken off from the rest of the noise as a relaxed dining area where food lovers continue eating into the late evening. Unfortunately this place does not open past about 2am and as its residents flock into the streets you wonder where to go next.
Overall a club without the door service, a trendy bar without the sport (the TVs appeared to be showing re-runs of soft-core porn) and a restaurant of apparent elegance and class, so a well rounded venue - versatile for the bulk of your evening.
This place is so fantastic. I can not believe the prices, they are so value for money. I have rceommended this restaurant to many of my friends already. If you want a lovely friendly dining experience come to this place. It is fantastic.
"Beware when making credit card payments at this restaurant! When I checked my bank statement I saw that I had been overcharged with four separate amounts other than the 110 I signed for. These were very considerable (47.50, 62.50, 110, and 220), therefore totalling 440. When I contacted the Islington branch to find out why I had been overcharged I was told by the overall manager that the computer system had gone down and that he would arrange for the payments to go back into my account and would send a formal letter of apology...I have still to receive the said letter. Also I checked with my bank and no payments have been brought back to my account."
"The Living Room is a great place and it is pretty near to being an all round winner of a bar/restaurant - but I have to start with a massive gripe. I had the Sunday brunch there at the back, in one of their American style booths. There was a pianist playing the beautiful white piano that sits in the centre of the front bar. All good so far and on the face of it, the place was providing the winning formula to create a calm and relaxing chatty Sunday brunch. Unfortunately, the pianist seemed to be in direct competition with my chatty calm and relaxed self. I did not buy a ticket to come and listen to you. Your job is to provide me with pleasant background music to accompany my conversation and meal. F**k you for trying to silence me and for forcing me to raise my voice to be heard! It is almost as stupid as an open air, airport restaurant sited on the edge of the runway. Or like Frois Gras and chips or Chateaux Margeaux with ice. I cannot understand how the manager cannot see the fault here. I was unable to enjoy the food but I think it was quite nice. The service is very friendly and accommodating bar the background intrusion."
