When I grow up, I want to have an Old Queens Head of my own. Moving to this area and looking for somewhere to go for a quiet beer, a reasonable meal or a massive night dancing i was happy to find the Old Queens Head ticks all the boxes. During the week, there's always something interesting upstairs from new bands, to folk, to mad jazz. On the weekend, the DJ line up is rocking. In the last couple of months, Ive seen James Lavelle, Scratch Perverts, Nextmen, Plump DJs, Freestylers + Tayo, let alone heaps of sets from interesting bands as well - and never over four quid to get in. The staff are good value and it seems to do good food. The sunday roast has been nice every time I've been. Its got a good feel, like a hunting lodge taken over for the weekend by partygoers. Hats off.
Fantastic pub, club and music venue. I live a few doors down and can often be found relaxing, dancing and eating there, A top London venue. It does get very busy on a Friday and Saturday but if you're in the party mood you'll enjoy the great atmosphere.
Friday nights are the best - DJs amass, choons galore and the pub is heaving with punters. A sweaty dancefloor with intoxicated revellers, mindless in moves and entertaining for the sober - just what you need to wash away a week of drudgery.
I love this place and think it is easily the best boozer in North London. I only live up road but am always there meeting up with my mates who have often travel across the city cause they know how good it is. The weekends are constantly busy with an amazing party atmosphere helped by the big name DJ's they have playing and the great value shot deals they do. Their Sunday Roasts are also top notch though it's worth phoning up to book a table before hand as it can be really busy. If you're in Angel on a night out you should definitely make the Old Queen's Head your first port of call.
A different story every night. Old Queen's Head has an eclectic set of nights that run parallel with days of the week. Music during the week includes acoustic acts and cabaret acts. Weekday night activities include group fun such as quizzes and book launches. On the weekend, the upstairs area of Old Queen's Head is transformed into a DJ hosted dance party. Then comes Sunday. Sunday at Old Queen's Head works as a hangover cure. With both the tempo and volume turned down, Sunday's music and atmosphere work as the perfect soundtrack for you to relax and recall the weekend... and to prepare for Monday.
