I went here years ago with a gastromone par excellence and liked it. Now I live around the corner it its seems a rather tired place.
The food is reasonable for the price, (£8 for curry) its not fine dining, it is a curry house after all but with the likes of Kadiris up the road offering better food in better surrounds its on a loser for me.

The food at Vijays has always been excellent. They take such care in what they serve to their customers. The waiters are very friendly and very engaging, and always try to make your time there a pleasant experience. Every time I eat at Vijays I am glad I have done so. I would recommend it to anyone.
My favorite indian restaurant. I have eaten here for 28years.The staff are willing and the food honest.
"To say you mustn't judge a book by its cover is not true for everything, and certainly not true for this restaurant. It looks ghastly from the outside, all tacky blue neon and steamed up windows. Inside, however, is like stepping into a seventies movie set, except it's all kind of new, and it's not trying to be ironic either. Patterned carpet and the like, lots of brown, you get the idea. But the food. Oh baby. Proper, honest Southern Indian delicacies, like masala dosa. A very unusual menu that hasn't been bastardised too much. The dishes are all outstanding and made with fine produce; the staff couldn't stop smiling and we were left wanting nothing except for them to take away the left over food there was so much. Love those huge bottles of Cobra too."
