Jacks is a greasy spoon turned trendy diner, serving up a range of breakfasts, roast diners, many fried and grilled food stuffs, sandwiches and salads, as well as a whole pile of cakes and traditional puds. There is a roaring take away trade, which is just as well as the number of tables in side is limited. It is always fairly busy, but you may have to wait to be seated at the weekend when demand for breakfasts is at its height and a table sharing scheme is operated. A feature of the breakfasts are the double and triple portions which are enormous.
You can pick and mix what you like, and they offer healthier muesli and yoghurt options alongside the standard American pancakes. The food is fairly standard, the ingredients a little mediocre, but the prices are great as is the location and speed of service. Staff can be a little miserable to look at, but they get the job done and are generally helpful. Definitely worth a try, no prizes for quality sausages but a greasy spoon with atmosphere!

Very deceptive place this. The owners have tarted up the exterior to fool passing yummie mummies and their men folk that the can receive good sucker within. You can’t. As a man of a certain vintage I know all about a good full English and this place can’t serve them up. Sausages are of cheap quality and the eggs generally come rubberised.
Its an old school cafe pure simple, forget its veneer. The reading matter consists of the Sun and Mirror which you can enjoy while listening to Capitol FM.

It's worth the wait for a seat... if you're looking for a fry-up this one ticks all the boxes.
Good prices, huge portions, nice bustling atmos. What more can you ask? It's not gormet, but doesn't pretend to be, and it's not pretentious - just a good local, buzzy place to get an enjoyable breakfast. Oh - and they have soya milk!
Jack's food is very disappointing. The pancakes in particular are awful, often made ahead of time and reheated to a stale slab before being served. They also only allow a miniscule amount of maple syrup with each order and charge an extra pound for any extra. Coffee bad, food overcooked, dirty glasses and mugs...but it is convenient. It needs some real competition to upgrade its offering...which is unlikely to happen.
