I regularly drop in at Penks on a Saturday or Sunday morning for a lazy read of the papers along with a delicious breakfast. The place is small but never overcrowded, exudes a laidback charm and the staff are polite, friendly and attentive without being in your face. Full English is always a winner, with the ingredients being top notch. Also mighty fine are the eggs benedict that come in two different sized portions for those with a larger appetite. Go early to catch the kedgeree as that has been known to run out it is so good! Evening meals are also worth checking out. Although a little pricey, the quality of the food and the presentation is excellent. A marker of a good restaurant for me is the quality of the chocolate dessert, and here, the chocolate creme brulee is to die for!Penks is a great local restaurant, with a relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff and food that is consistently delicious.

Though Penks has got bigger its still small. The annexation of the old barbers next door has seemly added more space whilst keep the old character of the place wholly intact. Brunch or lunch are both excellent here and are highly recommended.
The new years eve dinner menu offering consisted of these gems:
Cream of Jerusalem artichoke soup, walnut oil
Chicken liver and foie gras parfait, toasted brioche, pickled figs
Terrine of lobster and sea trout, sun dried tomato and tarragon dressing
Salad of blood oranges, shaved fennel, blue cheese, toasted pine nuts
Grilled fillet steak, béarnaise sauce
Roast troncon of halibut, clams, shrimps, Champagne sauce
Poached breast of guinea fowl, stuffed with mushrooms, truffle liquor
Risotto of roast butternut squash, two cheeses, sage, wilted rocket
If like me you were reared on Rice and Peas and Stewed Chicken a little help is a must. So knowledgeable staff who are able to recommend and point you in the right direct if you need a little guidance working your way around the menu is a great help.
Penks is not cheap, last year’s food inflationary pressure on the UK economy were felt here first as all of its regulars will attest too.
Its not big and not cheap but it is very clever.

Had my first visit tonight after their expansion which is a great success, much more room, very comfortable seating, and as always excellent food. It is always a special treat to come to Penks. Highly recommended - just make a booking you won't regret it!
A great little restaurant that we've been visiting for years, it rarely disappoints.
This small but perfectly formed resturant has never let me down, The Food can only be rivaled by the first class wine list. The staff are friendly and helpful and the owner who is generally to be found mucking in is the definition of understated charm.Perfect at any thime of the day, but my favorite is a long sunday lunch, spent blowing away the cobwebs of a night spent over the road.Best place to eat in NW6!
