222 Veggie Vegan is a vegetarian (No!) restuarant near west Brompton tube. We went there last Friday for the first time. The food is great, fresh and not the usual veggie food trying to be meaty food, no vegetarian lasagne or fake sausages (although I do like those), except for a token burger. I had crispy pancakes with abrocolli and some kind of cheesy tofu filling, which I am doing a poor job of describing but which tasted good, not in small part due to an excellent rich tomato sauce.

The puddings were delicious, we had banana and walnut cake with vanilla ice cream. All the food is home made, no heatng up or buying in and is reasonably priced. The only slightly less than rosy thing about it all was the decor. If you are familiar with veggie restaurants then you will know that there seems ot be a connection between veggie food and bare neutral walls, pine furniture, folksy easy listening music and overly tall, thin owl like waiting staff. Surely there must be an opening somewhere for a decadent vegetarian restuarant, all red velvet and purple walls. Who says you can't eat tofu whilst listeneing to pink floyd!?

I visited this place last year, and it is the best. I am a vegan, but had a non vegan friend with me who agreed - the food was delicious. Especially the salds and the mushroom-cashew (cream like) pasta. I insisted on meeting Ben, the chef and owner, to compliment him on a job excellently done, and found a wonderful and talented man. His cooking is simply inspired, and he has a big heart. I wish him and his place the best of luck. Vegan people deserve good food!

As a vegan I was very interested in visiting this restaurant, and am I glad I did. It was such a pleasure to be able to order ANYTHING I wanted. Particularly, desserts! In fact, I started with the desserts and worked my way backwards through the menu. The service was good and the food is fabulous. I will definitely go again.

It is so rare to find a place that serves such amazing food at such good prices. The choices from starters to desserts were imaginative and bursting with flavour. My brocoli and tofu pancake tasted so nice i wanted another and the ginger stir fry was mouth watering. I am not over emphasising - they really were! The wine was organic and cheap, and the sides tasty and at a good price. A great place for good food and a bustling ambiance as well.

i had a lovely time in here this week. lovely food, very healthy tofu cooked in an original and interesting way. the waitress was friendly (and had a good sense of humour!) and the ambience in the restaurant was chilled out and just right. the organic wine was great too. i highly recommend this restaurant and will be going back again soon, to try out the other dishes on the varied menu. btw the organic wine was lovely!
