Occasionally I meet good friends at a restaurant of their choice and I usually expect the food to be barely noticeable next to the amusement of the lively chat that accompanies familiar company. Bonjour veitnam is plainly decorated, uncluttered by ornaments, with carpet and table cloths to give it atmospheric substance. We decided on a spicy tasting ensemble consisting of a dozen varied small dishes. Our lively chat was being fuelled by a crisp white wine that we had anticipated needing to cut the spice and cleanse our pallets. When the dishes started to arrive our chat was replaced by appreciative oo's, that led to further tasting and in a turnaround barely any noticeable chat. Do not sit to close to the front door as the Broadway is always full of traffic and the smell of the exhaust fumes can distract from the flavours. The service was unobtrusive and barely noticeable.
