Just when you thought London only catered for the elite, up pops Groucho St. Jude's, Glasgow’s equivalent, or shall we say, next of kin. Away from the pebbled streets of Soho, Groucho St. Jude’s is nestled in Bath Street. Although this place carries a member policy, St. Jude is worth parting the cash for - warm and pleasant surroundings with far less snobbery, then it London counterparts (oops!)
The review that gives 10 out of 10 seems to be written by an owner. The place is rubbish. Read the real reviews above.
I read the report in Alistair Sawdays usually reliable guide and booked the Penthouse Suite for 5 nights and stayed one and that was one too many. It is dreadful. We are in our late sixties and the male receptionist watched us struggle up six flights of stairs with heavy suitcases. We saw no other staff. The room was dreadful, lightbulbs missing, shower out of order, tellies with rolling screen images, sofas that were so uncomfortable they were unsuable. Thick dust coated all surfaces and there were filthy footprints on the loo seat. We could not complain as there were no staff around.. We left the next morning after a disastrous breakfast with stone cold bacon rashers on cold plates. Absolute nightmare for 150 per. night!!!
