So I've been here 1 year now and love getting out and about with my camera but need some new hot spots. Where is your favourite place in London & why *please*. I'll try to get there myself and take some pics.
For me Southbank would be hard to beat. You have the views across the Thames, St Pauls and the cityscape that is London. Then when you turn your camera 90 degrees around you have the brutal concrete buildings from the 50's thru the 70's of the Southbank itself, giving great shapes and shadows. If you continue to walk toward the mayor’s office there is green space and people of all colours to snap.
When you have tired of all of that you have the small cobbled streets behind Southbank to discover. It’s like 3 worlds into 1. That would be my suggestion.
I'll say my favourite place in London is Hyde Park. It's heaven on heart and I love having so much green in such a buzzing city. Autumn & Spring are for me the best periods to go however in winter is nice too. In summer you can even have a swim in the lake or hire a boat.
Here I forget that there is traffic and chaos and u can walk from Kensington Gardens to the Serpentine to Green Park and admire the nature.
Hey thanks guys/gals Southbank - I love this part of town too & am going on a photowalk this Saturday starting at Southbank, heading east, then crossing over to Embankment before chasing the perfect sunset (with Hot Chocolate in hand - unless I can find mulled wine). trellick tower & markets - I went to Nottinghill Festival last year for the first time (got out just before the trouble started) loved it around there - have not been to the markets yet so will defo have to go back. Camden - have not been there yet (although went in 2001) so have put that on my list as an all day wander. Hyde Park - I too love it there, it really is an escape from the rat race - was there just the other week for Winter Wonderland & blogged about it. Think my blog shows up on left of my profile.
Today does look very gray so if it stays like this I might just find a spooky cemetery this afternoon.
Thanks HEAPS guys for your suggestions - Will definitely upload my pics (where ever I end up)
x
It was a grey day so I ventured into Old Brompton Cemetery - http://beelarge.wordpress.com/
This year I am going to make a real effort to get out once a week with my camera, so I'll keep you updated. Your suggestions are always welcome too x
Waterloo Bridge for catpuring all that is timelessly iconic about London. Oddly Canary Wharf has become a favoured place of mine. Odd because for the life of me, I still can't capture the place but I enjoy trying.
