Good riddance to bad rubbish...Beluga Cafe has closed its doors (as well as Ubon and Dion) as the credit crunch has bitten. So this economic downturn is doing some good then!
A temporary building beside Canary Wharf serving food alcohol and hot drinks to lucky ice skaters using the rink beside it. I nipped in for some hot chocolate on a nice cold day and found it to be a quite place full of foreign bar staff who could not speak a word of English.
The drinks were way overpriced and after knocking them back the realisation suddenly hits you- NO TOILETS. Isn’t that illegal??Oh well with bottles of champagne to decorate the room your bound to be able to walk off with a souvenir should your bladder burst and you want some compensation.
Overall a dank 0.5.
Ridiculous price for the surf and turf option, which you had to cook yourself. Also, only 1 scallop, 3 prawns and tiny 4oz steak. Apalling, left hungry. The chef seems not to actually cook any of the food himself, but simply warm up stone plates and then force the customers to cook it themselves. Personally, I think they should have paid me to eat the miniscule amount of fodder they served up to us as I did the chefs job...
After trying to actually find a table that was not broken or lopsided we were very surprised at the lack of menu but huge wine list.Taking away the novelty factor of cooking you own food on hot plates the price of 17.95 for 2 prawns 2 scallops and a tiny 4oz steak was alarming. We asked for cheese and biscuits at the end of the meal only to be told they did not have cheese although it was on the menu.We obviously will never go back.
