Grapes

Features: Real Ale, Food, Beer Garden / Outside Seating
Nearest Transport: Westferry / DLR

The Grapes is an old traditional English pub steeped in hundreds of years of history, with a young Charles Dickens being one of it's frequent customers. The front bar has dark stained timber clad walls, an assortment of odd wooden chairs and tables and bare floorboards. The back bar has an open fire and steps leading to a deck over the Thames. Up some very narrow stairs is the small restaurant which looks out over the river. It has an excellent reputation for its fish and seafood.

A tiny terraced pub next to the Limehouse Reach, The Grapes is everything a traditional English pub should be. Genuine old decor and wooden furnishings give it a cosy, historical feel but there's a fresh, modern approach to the service and food in particular.

Grab a table upstairs (best to book) and enjoy one of the excellent seafood dishes. The specials change every day depending on what delights Billingsgate have that morning. Downstairs the bar is always fully stocked with a variety of cask ales, chilled lagers, wines, spirits and everything in between.

In summer it's practically impossible to find a spot in the back terrace but certainly worth the effort. The Grapes is a pub that you could happily spend all day, night or weekend in. A real East End diamond.
