The Bluebird spreads it’s wings
The launch of a ’new’ bar took place last night at the famous Conran gastronomic restaurant/café/bar/food hall that is ’Bluebird’, Kings Road.
The bar is said to have undergone some kind of revamp - subtlety must have been the trend adopted here because I had to strain my eyes to notice just exactly what had gone on.
The long and short of it comprises of a few table changes - more bar seating in the form of chocolate brown, leather banquettes, white leather easy chairs and low angular tables on which to pop your champagne, after a long hard shopping session in the food hall below.
The crowd that turned up for the launch seemed to be too engrossed in their own conversations, nibbles (mini fish cakes, pork satay, mini scotch eggs) and champagne (Pommery) to have time to notice the little changes that had taken place.
Good old socialite Nicky Haslam made an appearance sporting a pair of black patent platform trainers, bright red leather trousers and a spot of red in the old mullet to pull the whole affair together - whilst Ben Fogel (who appeared to be the only other celeb present) turned up in attire very fitting of the middle England, middle class, house wife hero.
As a note of reference the launch of the Bluebird bar was held in conjunction with the launch of a new Paul Smith handbag, specifically designed with Pommery champagne in mind - and what did this result in? A leather champagne clutch bag, designed with the classic Paul Smith stripes in candy colours. Not necessarily an everyday accessory, but what the hell champagne deserves to be transported style.

Awful. Took a visiting friend from Paris last night to the cafe. Waiter friendly but SO slow. Forgot drinks. Food seriously disgusting. Essentially inedible and then they have the gall to add a service charge. Absolutely not!
BB CAFE-very nice place. Staff-extremely friendly. New manager-very professional ! Definitely will come back and recommend this place to my friends !
I like Bluebird:) the staff are very friendly:).
Booked on line as a 40th birthday present and had confirmation. Booked the London Eye and cruise and a hotel within walking distance only for the, expletive omitted here, to call and say they'd double booked me.
Went for breakfast -appallingly slow service -order late by about 40 minutes...and then wrong..nice apology from manageress but total lack of organisation/professionalism of waiting staff.
