If youre a fresher and Im guessing most people reading this article are, this is your first stop. Why? Rooms galore. It has four bars and three large themed rooms, each playing a different type of music, so whatever youre in the mood for, youll find it here. Also, and this must be my personnel favourite, a room called Lucky Voice, which in short is a karaoke room. Whats the university experience worth if you havent embarrassed yourself in front of a room full of strangers at least once? Drinks arent exactly cheap, but theyre hardly expensive either, double vodka red bull on a Monday is 2, entrance can be up to 5, its a good investment, trust me.
Without a doubt the only place to go on a saturday night. The crowd is a little older and wiser than in your average St Marys Street Bar, resulting in a calmer, more relaxed atmosphere. The bar comprises of several different areas, each with its own theme, as such you can sloap between them; shaking your ass on the dance floor and then resting your tired soles in one of the many seating areas.I would recommed calling in advance and putting your name on the guest list (anyone can do this) meaning that you use the VIP que and pay less to get in. Although the drinks are slightly more expensive than your average Weatherspoons, this is compensated by the distinct lack of kids throwing up in the corner!!The venue also has a great restaurant, which my girlfriends and I have taken to using as a post shopping catch up on a Thurday night or Saturday afternoon. The menu varies depending on the time of day, but maincourses at lunch time start at 3!!If your one of Cardiffs young professionals looking to let your hair down on the weekend, then this is the place for you!
Tiger Tiger, racing away at trying to raise the stakes in Cardiff's dining and Bar culture. And so far it's doing an okay job. The London based Franchise is certainly trying to direct its young professional market away from the likes of Wetherspoons and grotty fast "food" industry, to good dining at reasonable prices. Even Students can afford the likes of tigers boastful menu, and sometimes even a coke too. in the evening Tiger transforms itself from corporate and stylish lunching to an almost chic restaurant and Bar with its outstanding cocktail list superb wines and champagne. The most favoured part of this bar to me is the non existant chav''s resulting in no Burberry, No Kappa and No threatened bar staff and clientel alike. HOWEVER!!! If you are going for a night out at Tiger, DONT think your going here for a cheap night out! expect to spend your taxi money and go to the hole in the wall after. Trust me :), but either way go and dress yourself up and just GO!
