From what is known about this drinking hole, The Prince Albert was once called an ‘old man’s pub’ (and there is nothing wrong in that) but being located in trendy Camden, it could be an issue. In keeping up appearances, The Prince Albert has undergone a major makeover…far from a lick of paint, this pub is no longer the frog but the Prince.
Now extended in to two tiers, upstairs offers a spacious dining area sprinkled with wooden tables and chairs. Downstairs, on the other hand, is less formal with comfy leather sofas, big screen TV and a convenient garden area for smokers. Interior wise, The Prince Albert reeks of the usual, mundane features of gastro-pub décor – mauve walls, chalk boards and chandelier-esque lighting. Then again, this is a pub that has welcomed customers since 1843, so I am sure the monotonous interior could be easily overlooked.

excellent place to come for a lazy sunday roast, the food is top notch and served through to 7pm, with delicious meat and loads of fluffy tatties. great atmosphere, sit back take your pick from a diverse selection of organic roasted meat, fish or veg dishes, knock back a couple of bottles of red wine (good selection on offer) and then stumble home in time for antiques roadshow. lush.
I am very surprised to read some of the reviews on this page. My boyfriend I booked a table last night for dinner, as we have recently moved into the area, and wanted to find a nice place to eat out.. It was recommended by a friend and really stood up to our expectations. The service was outstanding and the food was of good sized proportions and of excellent quality. We even received a 50% discount as a current promotion offer and no service charge was included on our bill. We are very happy with our new finding and will happily recommend this place to anyone. Thank you Prince Albert for a lovely night out.
Was in this past weekend and had a really very good meal. The whole experience was positive, from low-key, friendly yet attentive service, through to well presented and prepared food. There are some bold decisions on high quality ingredients in some of the dishes, but on the whole these work really well. Slightly disappointing was the limited choice of vegetarian dishes. The wine list appears to complement the food offerings rather well, although seemed to be a little light on choice at the highest end.
OK. Maybe it was just because it was a Monday and they'd had a big w/end, but this was dire. Waiter (yes, just the one) at full stretch. No wonder he struggled. Interesting undocumented variations on the menu included no foie gras with the pigeon starter. Mallard that may have been used as a punch-bag in the restaurant gym. Fortunately the wine list is good - which helped eased the pain. Was there a trained and conscious chef in the kitchen last night? I really doubt it. Shocking
A pleasant surprise to find a very good gastro pub off the beaten track in Camden. Good evening out and delicious food, will be going again !
