Like all open air venues, Regent's Park Open Air Theatre obviously owes much of its success to the elements. When I was there to watch Romeo & Juliet it was sunny, there was a light breeze in the air, birds twittered as the lovers got it on... it was all very romantic and beautiful.Which is good, because there isn't much in the way of cover should it rain. The wooden seats are slightly uncomfortable, particularly if you're sitting through a three hour play, but as most of the venues' productions include a half hour interval it's not too bad. Queues for the loos can get quite long and the cafe/bar with its jugs of Pimms is quite expensive, so if you want to save money, take a picnic... the staff don't seem to mind if you sit there munching from your Tesco carrier bag.At night, the theatre's even more magical with its twinkly fairylights and at approx 30 a ticket for the majority of its shows, it is worth the price... just a shame you can't guarantee the weather.
