A rather plush bar set into one of the most unlikely locations just a stone’s throw from the Forum. This place is very expensive for its location at around £5 for a glass of wine and around £4 for a beer.
The decor is alluring however, with not quite a romantic feel but a decadent, vibrant plush indoor arrangement with a tall bar on the right and outside benches play host to the smokers. However there is no cider on tap.
The place remains relatively quiet on a week night but has the space to accommodate a small group of people in one of the booths available and suits the upmarket drinkers who fancies themselves for a bit of class it what might-verge on a Gastro-pub.
Overall for a classy drink not too far from the station you could certainly-do a lot worse. I feel that despite the price this place offers comfort and quality, probably the closest bar to Kentish town tube of its kind and kept well that way
I had a party there also, very friendly staff - and free which was nice, had a DJ and was all good fun, BUT also told we were needed to be out early! Shame, as they could do some good with getting a late licence - really nice place, and love the decor, just doesn't get enough business - they should hold some comedy there as it really is a nice venue.
After visiting the Camden Grand Union a number of times, when I stumbled upon another one on Highgate Rd I was more than tempted to have a look. It has a similar atmosphere to the one in Camden but had some more interesting decorations and felt a little cosier (not freshly refurbished I mean).Anyway:Burgers, brilliant. The Aubergene and goats cheese was actually one of the best burgers I've ever had, and I am not even a vego!Drinks, very nice. I had leffe and staropramen. A couple of friends who came later ( we stayed all night!) had cocktails which they said were a lot better than anything else in the area.Only complaint was the music was up a bit loud, but I suspect this was to drown out the live music playing downstairs, which looked pretty busy with young artsy types.
This place is a hidden gem. I recently discovered it hiding behind some scaffolding. The burgers are top notch and the staff are friendly. Always struggle to finish the large portions they serve tho. Check it out
This place is set to take off. The food is amazing for the price and the cocktails are some of the best I've tried. All sorts of interesting decorations, mirrors etc make the place look super funky. Wasn't able to stay long but will certainly be back as it blows anywhere else in the area out of the water. Highly recommended
