Not only one of the best Carling (or should I say O2....) Academies; but one of the very best gig venues in all of London.
A few good pubs in the surrounding area, unlike some other gig venues. It's still gritty and indie enough to feel real, without being a complete hovel. It always seems to achieve the right balance between lively and spacious. The atmosphere is always great. The floor is sloped, so everyone can see better. I have always loved the separate bar area at the top of the stairs too.
Why did I have to move from London, God? WHHHHYYYY?!! ;-)

Amazing and awe inspiring gig. Apart from numpty who was fighting fresh air in rear circle
The Sex Pistols - 10/11/07I travelled from ireland to the gig. The ticket cost me 110 euros on e-bay. Yes they played for an hour but it was a fuckin great hour. Im 47 and i fuckin loved it. John's vocals were a bit off?? He's 51 for fucks sake. It's still a rock n roll swindle but so what. If you were under an illusion that it would be different well you shuda gone to the spice girls. Music was great, and atmosphere. Bollocks lasts for about 40 odd minutes so the concert length was never in my mind.#Gawd bless em.
The Sex Pistols 10/11/07 Wicked Venue! I wouldnt normally comment but I was looking forward to this as being 38 - I missed them first time round! The support act Cribs I felt so sorry for - a packed venue and the atmosphere was dead - no one took any notice - being of the age where most others remember first time round - most others were the same and had no idea of any of the music from the cribs. Not really a good build up for the main event specially as we were kept waiting for what seemed like an eternity for them to come on.Ok we stomped at the front and should of worn steel boots!! It was quite mad and those that wanted to go for it DID! Play list was good and what was expected - however I felt there was NO crowd interaction from John or others - I felt totally ripped off that it was over so soon.A few comments but nothing to write about - We walked out thinking John most probably gave a better performance the first night and the extra dates were just a money making exercise. For someone I remember as playing to the crowd this was one of the let downs in concerts I have been to.Moaning finished - im glad I went it was something to tell my mates!
The Sex Pistols - 09/11/07 performanceThis was a great gig, BUT unfortunately the Sex Pistols only played for an hour which is a rip off and a great disappointment. The guitar sounds were superb and performed well as was the drumming. John Lydon, however, didn't sound like he used to. His vocals are just a bit shouty now and he has none of that vocal distinctiveness that he used to have back in the 70's. I would have enjoyed it much more and been more positive if they played for 2 hours which is pretty standard for headlining bands these days. They played most of their old favourites, Anarchy, Holidays in the Sun, Pretty Vacant, God Save the Queen, and Lydon made a few "political comments" (and insulted Malcolm Mclaren - all par for the course I guess). But what does he know of British Politics these days? - he lives in the U.S. where you have to go to great lengths to find out whats going on here, because America is so insular. I've heard that at their performance on the 8th they played for 1/2 hour longer (the night the press was there it seems).Altogeter the gig left you wanting more (in a bad way). I probably wouldn't see them again, but I guess it was something I can tell my grandchildren).
