Cosies is a must for anyone new to bristol. I've not been during the day but as a place to go late at night and be assured of a buzzing, understated funky place to go and drink and have a bit of a dance (tiny dance space - but well used!). Its got a genuine inner city edgyness about it that generally adds to its charm though very occasionally it can make things mildly uncomfortable. But hey - if it felt too safe it would be dull - no?

"Cosies is a schizophrenic little place - by day it's a nice little pub with a 'Cheers' kind of atmosphere serving good food for pub grub. By night it transforms itself into an unusual venue with especially exotic music for Bristol central. Really nice people too - make you feel very welcome! Thoroughly recommended especially before they get really busy when the area surrounding is developed! Rating based on the fact that it is everything a 'real pub' should be."

"Say "Cosies" to someone and you'll get one of two reactions. From those of us who know what a great place it is you'll get a knowing grin. From those who think that Corn Street is the pinnacle of the Bristol bar culture you?ll receive a suspicious sideways glance, a look that says do I look as if I'd go there! If you suspect you might fall into the second category, it?s time to abandon your prejudices because you?re missing out to a tragic extent. In the daytime, the venue parades as the "Portland Square Wine Bar" frequented by the suits and secretaries of the surrounding businesses. It?s different story after dark, when it's transformed into one of the most vibrant, relaxed, and unique bars in town. The cosy, brick lined interior features nooks and crannies that are great for a pre-club warm up. But then, you might be tempted to stay for the whole night by the friendly staff and regulars, and the good selection of drinks on offer. The "home-from-home" atmosphere has made it a favourite with Bristol's music community, and you?re likely to catch some top DJ and MC talent on the weekend. Moreover, word has spread about the place and it's hosted some great surprise gigs from top selling artists from the biggest labels."
