Staff were uninterested in my custom, not an ideal dining atmosphere, would be really good venue if they changed their staff and cordoned off the dining area
Upon our entrance the staff seemed to regard us with utter contempt for not booking a table, despite the apparent lack of customers. This, coupled with their security guard instructing me to park in a space my car quite blatantly wasn't going to fit into, gave an immediate impression of careless service. We were, however, quickly seated in one of the numerous empty tables. The restaurant section of Blue Ginger is very well decorated: it feels like a city luncher as opposed to a revamped pub. The seats themselves are comfortable, although couples have to make do with backless stools, apparently left over from the building's pub days. The starters were nothing short of delicious, especially the Chilli Paneer and Garlic Paneers. Portion sizes are reasonably generous, but if you don't recognise some of the names on the menu it's an utter waste of time asking the staff, who seem expert only in refilling pint glasses milliseconds after the final sip.The main courses were rather disappointing, with poor quality meat and superfluously sweet sauces. Curry connoisseurs are better off in nearby Spicerack, or the Regency. The bill was more than I expected, and it certainly isn't worth the extra in comparison to the two aforementioned local rivals - that is, unless you thing a resteraunt's decor is more important than the food. The waiter's tactless hints that I should give a tip were decidedly ignored.
The starters are the best, especially the fish!!
I had one of my best dining experiences here. Try the South Indian fried fish & you won't wonder why!
This is one of the best restaurant I have been to. I am regular to many restaurant in and around city & I rate Blue Ginger quite high.
