The WIV is an all round great local. The decor is nothing special in a typical gastropub stylee, but there is plenty of space, comfy sofas, a good outdoor area, eye candy behind the bar (when I was last there), and really good tapas in the restaurant.
The place is child friendly during the day, been there with many friends and their children, and the staff always accomodate. In fact, my six year old daughter has developed a little crush on one of the restaurant staff as a result of his friendly and attentive nature! Can get very lively during the evening of a weekend when DJs are present, but my favourite time is going for a lazy Saturday or Sunday lunch. If you are lucky enough to feast on the tapas, my recommendations include the chorizo, spinach with chick peas, gambas pil pil, spinach and feta parcels, and peppered steak - but believe me everything I have had has been good. Wash it down with a glass of Cava as in Spain, and finish off with Creme Catalania!
The WIV is a pub for all things, a quiet drink, hanging with friends, being a grown up whilst also being a parent, and a really good meal.

Never been to William IV and had a bad experience!Warm and friendly staff which helps when you have children as they are very understanding and very patient!!! To top that they also have great Sunday lunches and the food is always great!! The WIV has consistently provided a calming atmosphere which is great for families or singles that like to relax the day/night away. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.Best regards
I frequent the Willaim IV as much as I can, as it is one of those rare places that does a lot of different things very well.During the week it is great to pop in for a relaxed meal of some great tapas, with some great wine (and knowlegable staff to help with the choice!), and a relaxed atmosphere with jazz playing and a great ambience. At the weekend the place transforms into a busy and funky place to go for a late night out with DJs (fri & sat)and a happy hour on friday. Then sunday offers the best roast in the area, always busy so booking ahead recommended. Now that summer is approaching the garden (restaurant & bar) really sets this place apart from the competition. Get down there early and enjoy yourself!
Hallelujah, there is still a decent gastropub in London that doesnt rip its customers off.William IV is a wicked place to go to eat (especially on a sunday or when the tapas is 3 for 2), a wicked place to drink (happy hour until 8pm on friday) and with 1am closing and top djs on friday and saturday nights, there is no reason to ever go anywhere else.God save the William!
I regularly go to the William IV for the comedy night on the first Thursday of the month. What more could I ask for, a good local with great tapas (even for a veggie like me), a large wine list which knowledgable staff can help you chose from and lots of hilarious new/established comedy acts for only 5 from Kaylas comedy in the upstairs bar.
