I visited this restaurant for the first time on Sunday afternoon, I had wanted to go for a while and was looking forward to a nice relaxed meal foy my birthday.
Me and my friend were pleasantly greeted and shown to our table. For starters we each ordered brie with raspberry coulis, which was absolutely beautiful. My friend finished hers first and I took a little longer. I was still eating my last mouthful. Had just put down my fork and straight away staff were over taking my plate. This I found extremely rude. A minute later the staff approached with our mains. My friend had the halibut which was very well cooked and very tasty. As it was an italian restaurant I chose the spaghetti carbonara. Unfortunately I was very disappointed, the bacon mixed through it had huge lumps of fat on it and the pasta was not fresh as you would expect in an authentic italian restaurant. Also the sauce was extremely bland. Throughout the meal we were made feel extremely uneasy, it felt like the staff were watching us eat from all angles of the restaurant. Again the second we put down our forks the staff had nabbed our plates! Overall I felt the restaurant was quite poor and I know the staff were trying to be efficient they really made you feel rushed and very uneasy. I definitely would not return to the restaurant.

Scalini a sister of Villa Itallia just up the road a bit , I have been going here from the day it opened and know the owner Tony and Paul the manager it has four levels some with private rooms if you want to book a private fuction on request , you cant book other than that unless you have 8-10 people and phone in advance, after reading some reveiws I though it was a different place they reffered to , you will always get one as they say ,I can assure you all this place is a very well run place and the staff all young and mostly students making a few bucks ( all tips welcome ) are a fine bunch of people I have ever come across and the food is great ,I always order the same meal med to well sirloin with garlic potatoes, and always an italian beer to wash it down, and to finish it off an irish coffe , my wife and daughter always have pizza as they love it being made fresh by the chef down stairs who has been their a while and for all to see , this place is a great place to go with family as you are always made welcome , love this place I would go their four times a month with out fail no complaints from me , prego .

Friends of ours recommended this restaurant to us. This was the first and only occasion that I have ever sent back food, and all that was ordered was a pizza. The staff was grand and so was the setting. Food for me was a definite no no. will never return.
