Moshulu is a cool place to go, they've not long had the place 'done up' new paint job, new furniture, new carpet (although i seem to notice people like whining about the new carpet as much as the old one - guess some people are just never happy!). they get decent bands on often too.the bar staff are friendly, the drinks are not the most expensive in town (not the cheapest either, but compromises have to be made somewhere eh?) the bouncers are all sound friendly dudes that from what i've seen, only 'get involved' when necessary (no macho posing like in some other bars in town i could name...) and to be fair, if you're getting asked to leave its for a genuine reason.Long and short of it seems to be, to me, that Moshulu is an ace place to go and spend time with your mates, and the people that seem to whine about how 'awful' and 'sh*t' it is have probably been obnoxious to the bar staff, caused trouble inside and been thrown out, and now have little else to do but complain about how badly they think they've been wronged.Head on down to Moshulu people!
Moshulu was never a replacement for anything. Its been an established club for years and years and has always been deeply loved by the alternative scene. If you want cheesy nineties music come along on a Wednesday for cheap deals and cheap entry.Friday nights is a general rock night playing everything from metallica to Blink 182, from Pendulum to taking back sunday and everything in between. In my opinion the best night out you can get, the DJ will take pretty much any request and unlike other clubs will actually play what you ask. Saturday night is a collection of classic indie and 60s/70s rock tunes, to the latest Electro/Dance. Great prices and great deals.Drinks are what you'd expect. Moshulu doesnt dabble in fancy drinks and has a pretty straight forward drinks list. The backroom does shooters like B55s etc and some decent cocktails, but moshulu is NOT a cocktail bar. It has the usual spirits and beers but nothing unusual. Some amazing bands play here and to see some of the biggest bands around right now in such small surroundings is amazing. recently they've had Alexisonfire, a day to remember, mindless self indulgence, hadouken!, nouvelle vauge and millions more! The floors are sticky and dirty but for the regulars its all part of the charm of this cute club, its not pretensious and doesnt put any airs and graces on. It's a rock club and its one of the finest.
Awful place, the carpet is so sticky on the feet, the toilets are horrendous - no loo roll or soap and not cleaned properly; p!ss poor choice of lager and then they're trying to charge 17 for Nouvelle Vague?!!If this is what we get in replace of the Lemon Tree they can do one!
